Founded in 1990 as an insolvency and business rescue practice, Sterling Ford brought together the combined expertise and several decades of experience of some of the leading practitioners in the profession, drawn from niche, medium and national firms. Since then Sterling Ford has grown into a multidisciplinary consulting group encompassing a range of specialist services specifically tailored to helping both commercial and "not for profit" entities in three main service sectors: Insolvency and Specialist Advisory- Strategic Consultancy - and Finance.

Over the years, as insolvency specialists, Sterling Ford has advised and/or represented in both debt recovery and insolvency related matters: the Legal Services Commission, National Charities, Town Councils, professional firms, financial institutions and large commercial enterprises, a considerable number of privately owned family businesses and one man companies across many different types of industry.

Sterling Ford has been involved in a wide variety of different types of cases including, but not limited to:

• investigations, forensic accounting and fraud, debt recovery strategy, asset tracing, litigation
• specialist winding-ups and rescues such as charities and theatres
• restructuring companies, such as in winding down loss making or defunct operations to ensure a smooth transition into leaner and more cost effective entities
• members' voluntary liquidations, having acted for a large number of family owned companies, single member companies, non-operating subsidiaries of media groups, shipping and leasing companies as well as the Church Commissioners
• regularly advising a variety of clients from private individuals (including Non-Residents/Domiciles) to commercial clients who have fallen into arrears with HMRC in often complex circumstances and need time to rearrange their affairs in conjunction with their accountants or solicitors, to either demonstrate to HMRC that no tax is due, or so that a negotiated full and final settlement can be reached often without the need for any formal insolvency arrangement/proceedings
• regularly acting as liquidators of small companies in a wide range of industries, often with pre-liquidation trading and/or a business undertaking to sell on
• acting in complex bankruptcy cases, many involving litigation, including cross-border
